Der Ring
The rings by Johannes Wengel, Mark Boombastik and Dmitry Paranyushkin. Photos by Chloe Richard.
A truly polysingular object, Der Ring is a tribute to handicraft and to the real in the world of mass-produced virtuality. It’s tangible and it’s there only for the people from the ring of Der Ring. When you meet someone who has one, you know you can trust them.
The rings made out of money to be worn on people’s hands, fingers, necks, bodies, and body parts. Can also be positioned on objects to make people’s eyes happy.
Artisanal production based in the last standing building of Berlin wall, developed by Mark Boombastik and Vogelstrauß (Johannes Wengel and Dmitry Paranyushkin).
The rings are made out of Euro and pound sterling coins only and come in three sizes: L (£2 coin), M (€2 coin) and S (€1 coin). They are packaged in aluminium oyster-like shell to protect them against customs, x-rays, and immigration authorities.
When everyone else is saving the money, we destroy them.
The rings are usually presented to special people on special occasions, but a limited edition of ten is available online through Arcademi as well as Kokon To Zai shop in Paris.
